This session will share with the audience options for dispute resolution available, mainly litigation, arbitration and mediation, as well as possibly hybrid options, such as Arb-Med-Arb or Med-Arb. It will discuss pros and cons of each of the modes of dispute resolution with the aim of equipping the participants with (a) the knowledge of available options, and (b) the ability to make an informed decision (based on their assessment of the various pros and cons) on which is the most suitable mode.

   Jeremy Cunningham, Partner, RPC Premier Law

Jeremy is a corporate transactional lawyer focussed on delivering commercial solutions to clients. Jeremy represents corporations, financial institutions, insurance companies and investor groups on a variety of transactional matters. His focus is on M&A and disposals, private equity and venture capital investment, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and strategic alliances and commercial contracts. Jeremy has wide ranging experience of cross border M&A and other corporate transactions across Asia, Europe and the US, with particular expertise in the media and technology, real estate, financial services, energy and insurance sectors. Jeremy is qualified in both Hong Kong and England and Wales.

Chern Yang is a banking and commercial matters litigator and also has extensive experience as a mediator. Chern Yang has expertise in secured and unsecured facilities, debt recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency. Aside from banking litigation, Chern Yang has advised on a wide spectrum of issues such as defamation, contractual claims, medical and other professional misconduct or negligence, and landlord-tenant disputes. He also has experience in corporate commercial matters such as breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder disputes, and claims in tort such as negligence and conspiracy. Chern Yang is a proficient mediator and was one of the youngest to be appointed as a Principal Mediator and Fellow of the Singapore Mediation Centre. He regularly teaches mediation and has done so for the Judiciary in Brunei and Myanmar.

   Erlene Tan, Director, RPC Premier Law
 
Erlene Tan is a transactional expert with a particular interest in cross-border private mergers and acquisitions in South East Asia. Erlene supports a diverse group of clients with interests in commodities, finance, insurance and food & beverage services. She also has valuable in-house experience, having spent time at a listed real estate developer where she advised on a myriad of corporate, commercial, listing, and regulatory matters.
 

   Loong Seng Onn, Executive Director, Singapore Mediation Centre

Seng Onn has been with SMC since its inception. He currently holds the appointment of Executive Director, SMC. He is involved in the strategic development of SMC as well as its day to day operations. He is on the panel of mediators of SMC as well as the Singapore International Mediation Centre. He is also a CEDR, IMI (International Mediation Institute) and SIMI (Singapore International Mediation Institute) accredited mediator and a gazetted mediator for the Tribunal for the Maintenance of Parents. Seng Onn has mediated and resolved a great diversity of disputes, ranging from family matters to complex commercial disputes.
