Stanley Yong, Principal, The Practical Smarts Company
Formerly Head of Innovation Acceleration at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Stanley led the research and development of Project Ubin, the central bank's multi-stage investigation of central bank digital currency on distributed ledger technologies. He loves to delve deeply into the business model and regulatory issues facing FinTech companies of all sizes. He has Masters of Science degrees in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and an MBA and Masters in Advanced Finance from Instituto Empresa in Spain.
Dr. Simon Goo, Executive Director and Head of Group Risk Analytics Division, Group Risk Management, United Overseas Bank
Simon leads a multi-disciplinary risk analytics team that oversees enterprise-wide risk management models at United Overseas Bank. The team validates a wide range of risks and measurement models. Those models can be used to assess and manage credit, market, operational and asset and liability risks across the bank’s global business. Simon is part of the bank's Innovation Workgroup which launched The Finlab (www.thefinlab.com) where he also serves as a mentor. He serves as a member in the Product Program Committee and the Alt-Chair person in the Market Risks & Model Reserves working group in the bank.Prior to joining the bank, Simon held senior corporate positions in technology and finance related companies in areas such as strategic planning, private equity investments and mergers and acquisitions. He has also worked with promising enterprises to assess the potential of their technologies for product commercialization and strategic investment. Simon holds a PhD in the field of decision control systems from the University of Newcastle- upon-Tyne (UK). He received an IChemE Jubilee prize for his research applying Statistical and Artificial Intelligence Methodologies for on-line fault detection and diagnosis in 1997.
Timothy Goh, Associate, Corporate, Dechert LLP
Tim is an international corporate and securities lawyer at Dechert. As part of his practice, he regularly advises entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, established tech businesses, funds and innovators in the blockchain token space on the legal and regulatory aspects of bitcoin, blockchain, initial coin offerings and smart contracts. Tim is part of the blockchain think tank at Dechert and has co-authored articles on blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Tim has significant experience working on large complex cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, private equity, joint ventures, equity-linked instruments and fund establishment transactions. Mr. Goh has worked in the Middle East and South East Asia for multinational companies, private equity, venture capitals, alternative investment and sovereign funds and state-owned companies. Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Goh practiced at other international law firms in Singapore and Bahrain.
