S-VACC: Where are we now?

March 28, 2018

In March 2017, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued a consultation paper relating to the Singapore Variable Capital Company (S-VACC); a new legal structure to promote the domiciliation of funds in Singapore.

On the 28th of March 2018, experts from the private equity and venture capital industry gathered to be updated on the latest developments as well as review a “wish-list” of features to be incorporated into S-VACC. Practical realities of fundraising using a new structure unfamiliar to LPs were also highlighted. The session was ably hosted and facilitated by Sidley Austin.

Representatives from MAS also attended as observers taking notes on areas where members sought further clarification and giving assurance that highlighted issues will be addressed in their review in the later part of the year.
