Dear Members and Partners,
Warm greetings to our members, partners and friends. I am honoured to serve as Chairman of the Singapore Venture & Private Capital Association at a pivotal time for Singapore and the broader private capital community.
The past year has brought considerable change and the outlook remains dynamic. Geopolitical fragmentation is redirecting capital flows and influencing investment decisions. Macroeconomic conditions remain uneven, while fundraising, liquidity and exit pathways continue to challenge our industry. Meanwhile, rapid technological advances are reshaping businesses, investment practices and competition.
These shifts are prompting private capital to recalibrate while opening new avenues for growth. As investors become more selective and companies adapt, emerging technologies are creating new markets, while Asia is re-emerging as a source of diversification and long-term opportunity. This gives private capital a chance to reaffirm the benefits of patient investment, active ownership and enduring partnership.
Our industry’s evolution is also sharpening the focus on performance, discipline, transparency and governance. In this environment, trust matters more than ever: trust between investors and fund managers, between capital and entrepreneurs, and between our industry, policymakers and the wider community. We must keep raising standards, reinforcing alignment and accountability, and demonstrating how private capital delivers lasting value to investors, businesses and society.
Singapore is well placed to lead in this next phase. Political and economic stability, sound regulation, strong institutional ties and global connectivity have made it a trusted center for capital. Beyond its role as a financial hub, Singapore provides a gateway to ASEAN and the wider Asia-Pacific, linking global investors to the ideas, companies and opportunities shaping the region’s future.
SVCA unites this ecosystem, spanning private equity, venture capital, private credit and real assets, alongside institutional investors, family offices, professional advisers and industry partners. This diversity allows us to represent the industry, advance standards and reinforce Singapore’s position in private capital.
While the Association has expanded significantly in recent years, our central priority remains delivering relevance and value to members. We will concentrate on areas where SVCA can have the greatest impact: facilitating capital formation and liquidity; developing industry capabilities and talent; engaging policymakers constructively; strengthening international connections; and helping members connect, collaborate and grow.
SVCA’s strength ultimately lies in its members. Thank you to our members, Board, committee leaders as well as partners for their continued trust and support, and the SVCA Secretariat for their dedication and energy. May I encourage you to engage with us, share your perspectives and help shape both the Association’s direction and our industry’s continued development.
The road ahead will remain demanding, but Singapore and its private capital community are built on strong foundations. With clear purpose, disciplined execution and collective effort, I am confident that we can meet the challenges ahead, deepen trust in our industry and emerge stronger than ever.
I look forward to working together in the year ahead.
Warm regards,
David Low
Chairman, Singapore Venture and Private Capital Association
